Verbal and Visual Proactive Interference in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Objective: Working memory executive deficits have a role in maintaining Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms including flashbacks and reexperiencing. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to compare the visual and verbal Proactive Interference in trauma-exposed individuals with and without PTSD. Method: In this retrospective study, we recruited subjects through the purposiv...
متن کاملMale Proneness to Verbal Display Production
The Darwinian theory of sexual selection predicts languagerelated sex differences in humans originating from and relevant for mate choice. Due to past sex-different selection pressures, it can be assumed that men are more prone to verbal displays than women, both in intrasexual competition and in intersexual selection (i.e., courtship). They should benefit more from high verbal proficiency in m...
متن کاملVisual Display Height
We examined the influence of backrest inclination and vergence demand on the posture and gaze angle that workers adopt to view visual targets placed in different vertical locations. In the study, 12 participants viewed a small video monitor placed in 7 locations around a 0.65-m radius arc (from 65 degrees below to 30 degrees above horizontal eye height). Trunk posture was manipulated by changin...
متن کاملVerbal Semantics via Petri Nets
This paper introduces Petri Nets (Peterson 1981) into the vexed question of lexical semantic representation. We argue that Petri Nets can offer new insights into the organization of lexical meaning. Petri Nets can furthermore be translated directly into linear logic, thus ensuring compatibility with the glue logic semantic construction already defined within LFG (Dalrymple 1999). The potential ...
متن کاملHaptic display of visual images
We describe an implemented system for touching 3D objects depicted in visual images using a two dimensional, force-re ecting haptic interface. The system constructs 3D geometric models from real 2D stereo images. The force feedback at each position is computed to provide the sensation of moving a small ball over the surface of the 3D object.
